I worked as CEO from 1995 to 2013 in three different healthcare organizations (Health Authority No. 19, Adria; Provincial Healthcare Trust, Trento; University Hospital Trust, Udine) and three different italian Regions (Veneto, Autonomous Province of Trento, Friuli Venezia Giulia).
I previously worked as Medical Director at University Hospital of Padova and as Head of Environmental Health Departments in two Health Boards.
I developed my scientific interests in the field of health services research, health promotion, technology assessment and continuous quality improvement.
I have been a founder member of the WHO initiative on Health Promoting Hospitals.
I’m founder member and co-ordinator of the scientific committee of the Italian Society of Medical Managers (SIMM) and founder member and Past President of the Italian Society of Health Technology Assessment (SIHTA). I’m Director of the Italian Federation for Public Health and Healthcare Organization (FISPeOS).
I’m member of the scientific committee of Politiche Sanitarie (Italian Journal of Health Policy), L’Arco di Giano (Italian Journal of Medical Humanities), Sistema Salute (Italian Journal of Health Education and Health Promotion), Italian Health Policy Brief and Public Health & Health Policy. I’m member of the editorial board of Health Policy of Non-Communicable Disease and of the Journal of Clinicoeconomis and Outcomes Research.
